A Note From Alice

Kids Are Behind
What are schools doing to get students back on track?
The problem is the SCHOOLS not the kids .... pretending that we were not just in a global pandemic.
We are behind because we did not change the scope and sequence.
EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED! ChatGPT and other technology is at the students fingertips but we can't allow for change since we still have the same textbooks.
One teacher was telling me their school is going to require ALL students to take IXL math 3 times a week.
Nooooooooooooooooooo
Boring the snot out of kids with tons of rote practice to try to cram it into their heads WILL NOT WORK!!
The way to address the pandemic is to CHANGE SCHOOLS to be more personalized and humanizing.
To stop pressuring teachers to do boring things to catch kids up. Stop pressuring teachers period.
Teachers need TIME and fewer students to help students with creative critical thinking.
NOT to get students back on an outdated pacing guide.
It's not the teachers.
It's not the students
The system was designed for an era before the pandemic.

๐คน Emoji's are fun!!
VISUALS draw people's attention. ๐ป
๐ I added emoji's to all of my Google Classroom grading categories, now my Classwork page looks like more fun.

Friday Night ReliefCheck In Response Form!!
If you are not doing this I encourage you to give it a go!!
I created a Google Form for weekly check in for subscription members that allows me to reply to the check in. I thought some of you might want a copy this. It allows you to ask 2 questions, respond from the spreadsheet, and email the response to the student.
