Webinar: Canva Tips & Selfie Sticker

Title: “Workshop Canva Stickers \u0026 Other Canva Tricks 2024 06 18 16 03 GMT 5” Transcript: “okay so we are looking at canva I seriously have more canva tabs than I have Google tabs sometimes uh once in a while I just want to like get a screenshot of a menu of a Google thing and then I realize I don’t have any Google tabs open but I have a lot of canva tabs that doesn’t mean I don’t have a lot of Google tabs also like I use that a lot obviously but I love love love canva and is of course free free free so if you already have a canva edu account which I know you do you are logged in what we’re going to first do is I want to make a sticker so I got to think about what is the size that I want to do I’m going to try this annotating tool just for funsies okay I see it on there so it let me like Circle it so where it says create a design we’re gonna create a design and we’re going to choose the size so I’m just going to do uh 300 pixels by 300 pixels or 3 in by 3 inch 3 inch is actually pretty large um if you wanted to do a sticker okay but you can pick any size you want and you cou ld do it if I’m making something where I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it I make it 10 inch by 10 inches so that it doesn’t get pixelated you know that I can size it up or down but you know whatever you want to do so we’re going to create a design and down at the bottom it says custom size and I’m just going to choose that although honestly you could choose anything and it’s in pixels as the default so it’s kind of 3 in by 3 in it’s like 3 point something inches it’s close enough and just click create new design now we are going to pick any color background that you want because you can’t see the sticker Edge without the background not being white because I like a white I think of a sticker has a white background I mean you don’t Ed I don’t think you have to but you know roll with me on this Cheryl right don’t you it has a white light so having white background you obviously can’t see it so I’m going to click on the canvas and the little color wheel we’re pick any any color it d oesn’t matter pick your favorite now if you have a picture on your computer my eye is like super watery and I apologize I don’t know why it’s because I rubbed it once right I’m a photo that I have on my computer I’m looking for one and I’m literally just going to drag it onto my canvas so photo I have a lot of canva downloads looking for a photo of me I had everybody like emailing me so I have all their photos but I’m not going to use theirs uh I don’t have all of them I deleted most of them act ually come on I just was making some stuff with me I know I have a photo here somewhere and I knew that I did recently all right my eyes is not being cooperative I think I’m allergic to some dust or something in this room come on I need a photo with me in it wait there was no that wasn’t a photo okay you know what I have photos I’m just use ones I already have um here we go here’s me all right now here’s the good news super easy so either you have it in your photo thing or you just literally jus t drag it on there you’re gonna edit image up in the toolbar edit image and use background remover now if you’re not really sure you know what I I’ll pick a more complicated one in a minute we would use the Magic Eraser but we’re going to try and get this down to just the part that you want to make into a sticker okay and it’s so good it’s like almost perfect every time you don’t have to but you might want to get the resizing well the cropping bars on the side yep just because I’m going to make it a little bit larger and if it’s cropped in it’s a little easier to manage just okay go off the canvas but you know doesn’t matter now here is the magic sauce and you cannot believe how easy this you’re G to come down to shadows and this is why it’s like a hidden feature because you’re like wait I don’t want to Shadow but it has outline as an option under Shadow so I’m going to click outline and it puts this black Highway around me and then I’ll usually make it a little bit thicker and then if you click on the black color you’re going to pull or drag drag the Little Dot all the way up to the upper left hand corner so that it’s f f f f f f which is actually all of the colors and if you mathematically would like to know that I could explain that but anyway uh White so you have a white border and that is it so now you have a sticker and so you see I was like I resize it I have a lot of extra room and that’s where I like to kind of crop it in just so I I mean it’s not a big deal to have like you get rid of this guy I’m like bye okay it’s working on it coming it’s coming okay now he’s gone now you can either use the brush tool to just brush out some more stuff like kind of get around yourself uh but I am G to go back and just try background remover now that he’s gone let’s see what it does there we go perfect almost I still feel well maybe that is my shoulder right so I’m going to crop it into myself get a little tighter I’m G to resize it make it bigger and then this you got t dit image and either use background remover or Magic Eraser or a combination of one of those and you can see that when you watch the recording back I’m going to crop it in a little bit to the because it’s obviously too much top bottom left right I’m going to stretch it out and then the the secret sauce is Shadows shadows and sticker are not spelled the same but they both start with an S because there’s outline and then that outline needs to be thicker and it needs to be white and that’s it that you upload a couple different designs they also give you a multiple design discount so it’s really worth it to just go crazy you save money by ordering more stickers yeah you know how that works the more you spend the more you save that’s my husband’s favorite line I’m sure you can imagine okay any questions about sticker no that’s great okay so I have a ton of things that I do and I would love to just kind of show out throw out some of the tips and things I do but I would first just like to op gs about that are not the same so be aware of that so I’m going to choose the magic right and I’m going to say write me a story I can read to my class where they will understand the concept of equal lateral triangles without directly teaching a lesson on equilateral triangles let’s see how it does and I’m going to copy this because I want to see how Google Gemini competes so I don’t know about you did it do it generate I pushed the wrong thing um I don’t know about you but I actually use all of the sidebar in Google Docs and I mean basically it’s just that like you don’t want to be jumping through 10 different tabs to to do your work like I’m here in a Google doc I’d like to be in a Google dog like let’s just do this magic without leaving so if you’re using canva and there’s a lot of good reasons number one is why are you using canva without Graphics so I’m gonna put my sticker in there um under uploads on the left and there’s my sticker and now my sticker’s in there but of course it hat’s what’s cool though is every time I open it up I’m like oh that didn’t do that yesterday thinking about it come on you know and it puts a boring picture in there either on the left or the right neither in a circle or a square and it’s got some bullet points and it’s gonna look exactly like this no matter what I do make a slide about figurative language they’re boring there’s just no way around I mean it’s fine it’s it’s definitely better faster something to start with but canvas free I’m go s cool is that you can click on anything and then click on the little magic symbol in the corner and it’s going to find you some things that you could swap it out for or tag NE so um see all that’s gonna open up in the sidebar I’m like I’m going to put a car on here so that definitely helps out quite a bit Yeah my things that I’m pretty much doing 99. 9 9% of the time uh let me get my picture of myself you know as I do this and I do the background remover which we already talked about now while he thing because it used to be a drop- down triangle and like everything and now Google Drive and everybody has it like it’s a sound mixing board is where you’re going to get options so it’s lines with dots on it and I want to scroll down and choose animated so this is probably where half my clicks of the day go where I’m filtering it for being animated and then you’ll see that it says all Graphics photos videos shapes if you want an animated Arrow you’re pretty much going to need to choose Grap ns you do you I like to organize things in my Google Drive I just really like Google Drive I feel comfortable with Google Drive I know how to share things in Google Drive uh I feel like there’s a few more steps and barriers to managing uh canva so I just like to use canva for my designs as a personal preference obviously you can do some beautiful and cool things things with canva presentations so like when I’m in my canva presentation and I go and I choose present present no I mean even now I do gle Fanboys or Fanboys or something because they’re good at yeah that’s why you should be a fan I mean it comes down to me for this is I can code Google sites and um yes this is collaborative but I don’t know I like to collaborate and whatever I’m not gonna I’m not trying to convince you I’m really not please if you like using canva presentation it’s really cool and you might like it better and I should definitely encourage you to like play around with it a little bit see what kind of things tha going to a bar at the bottom there’s a download icon can you see this I can’t let’s see are right to the left of well okay right it says canva.com and then I have a bunch of Chrome extensions right and there’s a big G and to the right of the Big G is a down arrow with a flat bottom yeah Square that’s the download icon it’s right to the left of your profile picture and it’s got an arrow pointing down to what looks like a tray it’s the best thing they’ve done in a long time because it’s so simple r edits on my laptop I feel like the the Google apps on my phone are just easier to manage on the phone so like if I’m on a plane I can do them offline I can look at my notes and I know just give Cana a hot second they all be caught up everyone it’s a race to the top really of of cool features and competition so it could be in 10 years that no one’s using Google stuff anymore because canva is so dang cool for sure uh locking things to the slide let me show you that one so I’m going to go back to ll what color palettes or fonts do I like better go pick a different theme not for the style but for the I guess it’s also still the style but for the colors and font choices and then it’s really easy to switch the whole thing so that’s nice so you now see oops I didn’t I I clicked on the button in Google meet do you know what that does absolutely nothing cannot click on the screen share um also if you plug the power strip into itself it doesn’t work just so you know but I think this is a really ‘t want to overwhelm you but no you’re not you’re good I got it all right so I’m over here on elements elements we live on the sidebar there’s so many things here on the sidebar and that’s probably half the problem right so I’m going to just go through each of the things on the sidebar really quick we already did design design helps you to design whatever you’re looking at mix with templates okay the next next one is going to be shapes Graphics uh you can use their image generator right in there you accidentally do that contrl Z leave it selected and then come up to the toolbar where you see the padlock and you got to click it twice sometimes not that time I because depending on what the element is let me see if I can just grab another design thing with like see how this has a picture in there and then when I come and I grab a photo you see how that is a frame so I was able to literally just drag my photo into that frame but when I lock it notice it now locks with a pencil so it locked e than one thing at a time so it’s the shift key so I’m going to hold down the shift key and I’ve clicked on the picture and I’m going to click on this text box and I’m going to click on this squiggly line so I have three things that I have selected at the same time so I can control X see I’ve removed them and then I can add I’ll put genely on here and apply colors to the page um I don’t know like a black background apply colors to the page um think I would like this actually to be white and tha os is using those frames the text they’ve got a lot of fun texts the problem is there’s too many texts honestly if I push T it just makes a text box right and I type and then I can come up here and click on font and opens up the font sidebar and then you’re like just keep scrolling do you see how it just never seems to end it’s like an infinite and I’m still in a you guys did you just see how much I scrolled and I’m still in a which is why I’m much more likely to go find a theme that I like and of like click it it’s locked on the background so that’s nice it’ll it’ll translate everything quickly and easily you actually always wanted that now the magic media is an app you have to add so you have to go up and apps and type in Magic media and so what do you have on the left sidebar is some of the apps that you’ve chosen and that you’ve used recently so like I haven’t used brand fat I just used it so it’s there now but I hadn’t used it in a little bit so it was gone because there’s only so me one to turn you into a sticker no but I’m GNA make one and I’ll send it to you so when I was doing it for when people sent me their photo the first thing I did was I download it without the transparent background Y and then I downloaded it with the transparent background and I sent them both so they could see the white border but then they had the one use so okay throwing that out there okay all right you guys it was great to see you so much thank you yes have a good one”
