I love love love Snagit! I use it for my video recordings, my screenshots, and creating animated GIF's. It is NOT free, but there is a teacher discount.

Does Not Work on a Chromebook
Be aware that Snagit does NOT work on a Chromebook. It must be INSTALLED. I use it on my Mac. You can use it on a PC.
