Parent Contact Log

Question was how to send a message to all parents. Shirley, says this tool is a really good for sending a reminder note to all the parents.

My suggestion was to copy paste the student ID numbers at the bottom and check all the checks at once (use the spacebar) and keep going. This contact log is a log of ALL contacts all year.

THOUGHTS FOR UPDATE

  • Feature suggestion to insert roster... you want to contact everyone. And the checkboxes are already checked to indicate you are going to SEND the feedback.
  • These go at the top
  • You always have the option to sort by date, can add a sort by date menu option.

TemplateTab

This free Add-on creates a sheet per student in a Google Sheets. Problem is, kids are locking each other out so they can not edit their own sheet.

Alice Advice: Not great advice and I totally get it that we want to control the situation ... teaching is hard. BUT we also want kids to learn how to behave in a collaborative document just like we want them to learn to behave walking in line or at the library. Keep working with them on digital etiquette.

Alice... I pick my poison and choose NOT to teach them how to protect sheets because they will punk each other and lock each other out.

Feature suggestion

Add to TemplateTab that the sheets are locked to person. Note that if this involves a scope change it will not be possible.

Student Names on Slides

Danielle requested that she need a textbox of each student on a slide. But not one per slide, all of them on a slide.

Seating Chart Slides... I took my code for Doc to Slides and modified it. Now it will add a blank slide and put textboxes for each paragraph on the Google Doc. Paste your roster into the Google Doc and use the Add-on menu to make a text box for each name. You can also use this for paragraphs. I will work on submitting this as an official Add-on to Google. For now... you can grab an unofficial copy and try it out.

Compliance Google Forms

Kimberly is required to fill out a weekly Google Form for her special ed kids, accommodation log, to check box that she is weekly doing the accommodation.

Solution: Get edit access to the Google Form and use the 3 dots to make a pre-filled URL and prefill form for each kid. Now you have a link to just click and submit.

Solution 2: Have the district create one of these per teacher. (Could hire Alice to do this for them)

Solution 3: Recreate the Google Form and create your own pre-fill URL for each student and it automatically on a trigger fills it out every week. Share the sheet with whoever wanted you to do all this extra form filling. They can copy paste your responses into their spreadsheet.
