Google Slides Formatting
Kimberly was checking out my new Add-on SEATING CHART SLIDES by Schoolytics. Kimberly did not like the default Google Slides font. The trick is to use CONTROL A to select all on the slide. Change the font all at once.
Did you know you can modify the font on multiple text boxes at one time?
Student Progress Reports
When you have parent teacher conferences, do you want the progress report to look differently? What would a one pager look like if you were to show up at an IEP meeting or parent teacher conference... that could be auto populated?
Matthew would like a chart comparing how they are progressing.
Motivating Unmotivated Students
Chatted about students who have some rough backgrounds. When kids are not paying attention in class and then later are "Miss, can you help me?"
Ditch I Do, We Do, You Do
Start with students thinking!!!! Rather than starting with YOU doing the thinking try You Do, We Do, I do. See what you need to cover after students had a chance to explore.
CNN 10
Matthew shared that his students are engaged and enjoying doing 2 sentences of reflection on the CNN 10 news show
Premium Add-on: Make Folders in Google Drive for Students
I have made a premium version of http://alicekeeler.com/makefolders The request was to be able to make folders in the folders. This creates a folder per student and then puts a sub folder for each column value into that folder. Links to all folders are put into the spreadsheet. Folders are shared with student if email is provided.
Co-Teachers in Google Classroom
YES! They can see private comments you left students if they are a co-teacher.
Concatenate
Problem, in the spreadsheet the first and last names are in 2 different columns. Answer: Make a 3rd column and smash the values together.
Column A = First Name
Column B = Last Name
Now... I make Column C
=A2&" "&B2
or
=B2&", "&A2
Email Filtering
I use priority inbox in my Gmail. I filter my emails so they are in 4 categories.
IMPORTANT (not unread... that is key. NOT UNREAD)
Everything else
And... then you can choose 2 labels (folders). One of my folders is private comments for Google Classroom.

Managing email is always a challenge. I have started filtering out for what I need, but always seem to forget something, or I accidentally open and don’t read and then it moves and gets lost. The struggle is real!
One of my tricks is to use the “Mark as unread” tool… I use that a lot. Not sure if it will be helpful, but it looks like an envelope in the Gmail toolbar.
