This is not a math activity (it is also a math activity). My students (even the grumpy ones who do not want to participate) love Polygraphs!
Think about patterns for the content you teach. How can you find things they have in common? What kinds of traits are in common? Polygraph is a vocabulary activity. It requires that students can communicate patterns (using the vocabulary) by asking each other yes and no questions.
For whatever your content is, if you made 16 cards for students to guess the word/picture you want to make sure each of the 16 cards have something in common. For ELA it might be "Is your word a noun?" "Is your word an animal?" So elephant would be both a noun and an animal. It contains two traits. You want to have several yes/no questions in mind and have more than one of the 16 cards be possible for that question.
You want to turn off the x y axis in Desmos and just upload square images. I like to use Canva, free for teachers! Choose an instagram post to make it interesting and then make 16 variations and download each image. Add them to a Desmos Polygraph activity you are making.
The hardest part for sure is thinking of the pattern of what these 16 things have in common. It has to be 16 things, no more, no less.
