- next question is going to be last name now I don’t say what is your last name because in the spreadsheet it’s going to show for the column header whatever I type here for the question and if I type in what is your name what is your last name what class are you in then all of my spreadsheet titles start with what what what so instead I come down here to more options and I go to description and I type what is your last name so I let the full question be in the description and I let the question be what I’d like to
- show up in the column headers of my spreadsheet and of course I want to toggle to have this be required and required let’s add more Fields favorite subject and one fun fact so I’m here in my form I’m going to add another question over here in the toolbar on the right side so oops add a question right favorite subject add another now wait that didn’t switch to being paragraph It’s still multiple choice so maybe you want it multiple choice and you can adjust that but I’m going to actually come up here and choose paragraph now what’s the
- difference between paragraph and short answer nothing other than the length of the input box for students if you ask them for a short answer in a big box they feel pressured to write a lot so it’s kind of just the reason to do that so favorite subject and one fun fact so think about how you can get some information from your students and ask them different questions have them fill out a getting to know you form over time rather than one long one that does it all at once and so then you can use that little Snippets of information for
- lesson planning and and inputting some of those things or just personalizing some feedback okay so this is going to be fun we’re going to add a theme it’s time to make it more visually appealing so you just come up here if you see this paint palette up at the very very top and to click on that to customize the theme so I have all these options now to change the font style I can change the font size and there we go right so you can see that now I’ve got some different fonts you can upload a header image and what’s really cool about uploading an
- image is that it’ll suggest colors to match the image that you upload but let’s just for fun just pick a different color and then you can choose which shade of blue you want for the background so just some fun and quick ways to customize the theme now let’s share it with your students so there have been some updates here in Google forms that you should be aware of so first there is this share button I’m really excited about the new share button that I can add sharing permission so if I click on that it’s going to show me like the
- editor view who can edit the form obviously I want that to be restricted who can respond to the form is usually anyone with the link you can change it so that it is also restricted I’m going to hit done so you can share it but usually we just leave those alone just want you to be aware that those are in there now if you click this link up in the toolbar it’s going to allow you to copy the link that you’re going to share with your students so but the problem is it’s not published so this is the new feature you have to publish it so I got
- to click publish anyone with the link can respond I can manage that to restrict it and I’m going to publish so now that it’s published people are allowed to fill out the form now I can use this link to copy the responders link click copy now if you click on this preview icon that used to be how we did it don’t do that anymore cuz what you’ll see is at the end of the link it says SL preview we don’t want it to say it says preview mode so this is different you got to copy this respond link this is what we’re going to give to
- students all right and of course you didn’t see the preview link because this is only sharing this tab okay so this is what it look like the responder link that you are sharing with your students so they can fill it out after students have filled out the form we want to see the responses this has the pencil icon students won’t see it because they don’t have edit access so I’m going to click that takes me back to the form where I can edit you see it says questions responses and settings you want to go to the responses tab you
- can see I have one response it counts it right up here on the responses Tab and then you can link to sheets so this is really important this is how you can view it in a spreadsheet you can also see a summary here under the responsives tab of who’s responded but I like to see it in a spreadsheet so I can create a new spreadsheet or if you already have a spreadsheet that you want to add your responses to that one so that you can consolidate all of your stuff in one place you can do that too so I’m going to go ahead and click
- create and this is going to give me a table a list of the people who have responded so I can read their responses which is going to be really helpful
